1. Basic overview
Origin: Originally developed by American scientist Mike Martin to solve the problem of chloride ion corrosion of steel substrates.
Development: After the technology was adopted by the US military, it was gradually promoted and applied worldwide, especially in Japan after being improved and developed rapidly.
2. Main ingredients
The Dacromet coating solution mainly includes the following ingredients:
Solvent: Usually an inert organic solvent, such as ethylene glycol, used to dissolve and disperse other ingredients.
Passivator: Mainly chromic anhydride, chromate, dichromate and their mixtures, which form a dense passivation film during the sintering process to improve the corrosion resistance of the coating.
Special organic matter: such as cellulose white powder, as a thickening and dispersing agent for the coating.
3. Anti-corrosion mechanism
The protective effect of Dacromet coating on steel substrate is mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Passivation: Chromic acid reacts chemically with zinc, aluminum powder and substrate metal to form a dense passivation film.
Cathode protection: The zinc-aluminum-chromium coating provides cathodic protection to the substrate, similar to the effect of zinc plating.

Compared with traditional electroplating process, Dacromet surface treatment technology has the following advantages:
No hydrogen embrittlement: There is no pickling and activation process in the treatment process, which avoids hydrogen embrittlement.
High heat resistance: The heat resistance temperature can reach more than 300℃, which is much higher than the traditional galvanizing process.
Good bonding and re-coating performance: It has good bonding with the metal substrate and is easy to spray and color.
Good permeability: can enter the deep holes, slits and other parts of the workpiece to form a coating.
No pollution and public hazards: no wastewater and waste gas are discharged during the production, processing and coating process, which meets environmental protection requirements.
