Design considerations

1. The number of axes of the CNC determines the shape of the finished product, for example, the lathe can only perform 2-axis cutting (2 axes: x,y direction), while the milling machine can perform 5-axis forming (5 axes: x,y,z direction plus 2 rotating axes).

2. CNC can directly import CAD data into the workbench, with strong material adaptability and low cost, so it is often used by designers to make Prototype products, which is an indispensable part of the transition from design to production process.

3. For simple or complex product shapes, CNC processes treat them equally as multiple serial points that can be connected, providing unlimited design possibilities.

4. The cost of CNC process is generally converted according to the unit time of finished product production.

Type 1:3-axis CNC: The cutter head can be moved on the horizontal x,y axis and vertical z axis, and the molding process has multiple cutter heads to switch, such as groove drill, cone drill, flute drill and ball end milling cutter.

Type 2:5-axis CNC: The cutter head can be moved on the horizontal x,y, z axis and 2 rotating axes, and the molding process has a single cutter head for multi-directional flexible cutting.
