Our carbon steel products are highly versatile and ideal for a wide range of industrial and manufacturing applications.
1. Carbon steel S45C
(1). S45C is a kind of SC material (Steel Carbon) known as carbon steel for mechanical structure.
(2) The SC material is marked with the symbol "SC" followed by 2 digits to mark the type. The number part indicates the carbon content of the material, and if it is S45C, it indicates that it contains 0.45% carbon.
(3). S45C and SS400 are both very commonly used materials. It is also the most popular material among known SC materials. Therefore, the price is relatively low, easy to obtain, and is used in various places.
(4). It can control wear resistance, hardness, etc., by heat treatment such as quenching, so it is especially used for mechanical parts that require durability like gears. On the other hand, it is easy to rust, so it is necessary to implement anti-rust treatment such as coating oil and painting.

2. Advantages and disadvantages of S45C
(1). Advantages:
① Strength is given by heat treatment
② Cutting is easy to complete before heat treatment
③ High versatility
(2) Secondly, S45C is a widely circulated universal material, so compared with other metal materials, the price is cheap and easy to start. If it is before quenching, it is easy to cut, so when making gears, etc., heat treatment is generally implemented after cutting. On the other hand, with respect to grinding, heat treatment is usually implemented after cutting, and then grinding is carried out in order to adjust the size, etc.
(3). Disadvantages:
① Not suitable for welding
② Not often used as sheet metal
③ Because it is easy to rust and need to implement surface treatment
(4). S45C is a material suitable for heat treatment. That is to say, it will change its nature due to heat, so it is not suitable for welding using heat.

3.S45C commonly used surface treatment
(1) The selection method of surface treatment for S45C is the same as that for SS400.
(2). S45C is carbon steel, so in addition to quenching, tempering, but also the use of normalizing, annealing and other general heat treatment. On the other hand, its quenching is not as high as that of alloy steel, so it cannot be quenched too deeply. In cases where strong surface durability is required, such as gears, high-frequency quenching is often implemented.
