Poly ethylene glycol methyl ether methacrylate is a unique and versatile polymer that offers excellent adhesion, durability, and stability. It is ideal for use in various industries, including coatings, adhesives, and biomedical applications.
PMMA(Poly Methyl Methacrylate)
PMMA is an amorphous polymer, commonly known as plexiglass. Excellent transparency, good heat resistance (thermal deformation temperature of 98℃), with good impact resistance, the product mechanical strength of medium, low surface hardness, easy to be scratched by hard objects and leave traces, compared with PS, not easy to crack, the specific gravity of 1.18g/cm3.
PMMA has excellent optical properties and resistance to climate change. The penetration of white light is as high as 92%. PMMA products have a very low birefringence, especially suitable for the production of video discs. PMMA has room temperature creep characteristics. With the increase of load and time, it can lead to stress cracking phenomenon.
2. PMMA process characteristics:
PMMA processing requirements are more strict, it is very sensitive to water and temperature, before processing to fully dry (recommended drying conditions of 90 ° C, 2 to 4 hours), the melt viscosity is large, need to be high (225-245 ° C) and pressure molding, mold temperature is better at 65-80 ° C.
PMMA is not very stable, and it is degraded by high temperatures or by staying at higher temperatures for too long. The screw speed should not be too large (about 60% can be), thicker PMMA parts are prone to "holes", need to take large gate, "low material temperature, high mold temperature, slow speed" injection method to process.
3. Typical application range:
Automotive industry (signal lamp equipment, instrument panels, etc.), pharmaceutical industry (blood storage containers, etc.), industrial applications (video discs, light scatters), consumer goods (beverage cups, stationery, etc.).
