Magnesium alloy materials can be widely used in automotive, aviation, electronics, medical and military fields.
Due to the advantages of magnesium alloy such as light weight, high strength and good machinability, it is widely used in the manufacture of lightweight parts and parts that are easily exposed to heat, such as aircraft parts, car engine hoods, magnesium alloy glass frames, etc.
Advantages
1. Light weight: magnesium alloy is a lightweight metal material, lighter than aluminum alloy or even titanium alloy, and weighs about 1/3 of aluminum alloy, so it has a high specific strength;
2. Good corrosion resistance: magnesium alloy has corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and good tolerance to corrosive liquids such as water and oil;
3. Good mechanical properties: magnesium alloy has excellent strength, toughness and tensile resistance, especially maintaining excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures;
4. Easy to process and form, and can achieve complex design shapes to manufacture components that meet the requirements of use;
5. Has good high temperature resistance and thermal expansion resistance.
Disadvantages
1. Susceptible to corrosion: magnesium alloy is easily corroded in humid, acidic and alkaline environments;
2. Low wear resistance: Although magnesium alloy has high strength, it has relatively low wear resistance because of its soft texture;
3. High cost.
