Stainless steel is a commonly used metal material. It can be divided into many types according to different components and structures. The most important ones are austenitic stainless steel and martensitic stainless steel.
Austenitic stainless steel: Austenitic stainless steel is an alloy mainly composed of chromium, nickel, manganese and other elements. It has good initial plasticity, good hot workability and strong weldability, good corrosion resistance, and can maintain good toughness at low temperatures. It is suitable for manufacturing metal products with high strength and excellent hot and cold deformation performance. Austenitic stainless steels are: 301/302/303/304/316
Martensitic stainless steel: Martensitic stainless steel is a low-alloy stainless steel. The main components are chromium, nickel and other elements. It has the characteristics of high hardness, high strength and good wear resistance. While strengthening and improving its mechanical properties, its corrosion resistance is worse than that of austenitic stainless steel. Martensitic stainless steels are: 416/426/410
The biggest difference between austenitic stainless steel and martensitic stainless steel is the crystal structure. The crystal structure of austenitic stainless steel is austenite, while the crystal structure of martensitic stainless steel is martensite. At the same time, the material characteristics of austenitic stainless steel and martensitic stainless steel are also different. Different application occasions and usage requirements require the selection of different stainless steel materials.
